“And he told them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”
– Mark 16:15
We are all called to take part in the Great Commission, and we each have a unique role in its fulfillment. I first felt called to missions at the age of thirteen while on a missions trip to Venezuela. Three years later, I watched a missionary on itineration tell his story visually, using photo and video, rather than narrating his experiences verbally. It was then that I knew I was called to use my gifting in photo and video to serve missionaries and help tell their stories.
For the past five years, God has used my time at Southeastern University (SEU) to equip me for that calling. While at SEU, I have earned a Bachelors in Communications, worked for SEU’s marketing departments, and completed a Masters in Theological Studies.
This past summer, I had the opportunity to work with the Assemblies of God International Society of Missionary Kids (ISMK) as their Media Coordinator. Their mission is to enable, empower, and equip missionary kids (MKs) for life on the mission field. I have been approved to be a Missionary Associate through the Assemblies of God World Missions (AGWM) to work full-time with ISMK!
I want to see MK’s lives change spiritually, and to use my photo/video experience to teach MK’s, help capture ISMK’s ministry, and provide MK’s with tangible memories they can take with them onto the field.
The media captured at ISMK programs demonstrates how ISMK serves to equip the entire family by training the children taking part in this missional calling. I have heard missionary kids tell stories of the impact their faith had in their schools, which opened the door for their parents to minister to the parents of their classmates. Each one of these kids’ walk with Christ and ability to minister in another cultural context matters!
